The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania enables all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as healthy, productive, caring, responsible citizens.
We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life all youth who need us most. All programs and activities are designed to maximize opportunities for young people to build self-esteem and grow into responsible and caring citizens. Our youth development stratgey encompasses four "senses" that we instill:
A SENSE OF COMPETENCE - the feeling there is something boys and girls can do as well.
A SENSE OF USEFULNESS - the opportunity to do something of value for other people.
A SENSE OF BELONGING - a setting where young people know the “fit” and are accepted.
A SENSE OF POWER OR INFLUENCE - a chance to be heard and to influence decisions.
In every community, young people are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets and an increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.
Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, and belonging.
Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. It is the place where great futures are started each and every day.
