A letter from our President & C.E.O.
If you are anything like me, a promise means something. For more than four decades, I have made a promise to uphold the mission of the Club by ensuring that every young person who enters our doors has the best chance of a great future. During my tenure serving this organization, I have never taken for granted the important role that YOU have in the lives of our young people when you make your promise to invest in their future and for that I am grateful.
This year I have spent quality time with the kids in the Club and have seen the difference we are able to make in their lives. Our young people do not walk through our doors, they run, and they are greeted with a smile. They complete their homework with helpful teachers, eat a nutritious snack and break out into rotations of sports, arts and crafts, computer and tech labs, and game room activities with friends. The absolute best part about their visit is that they have no idea what goes on behind the scenes so they can enjoy their day at the Club! They don’t need to know about the leaking roofs that we repair, the floors that we replace, the complexity of the wireless Internet, or the massive utility bills. They don’t need to know about the behind the scene paperwork, the grant writing or even this letter coming out to you. Because they are able to attend the Club every day, they simply have the opportunity to play, laugh, discover and just be a kid in a safe and positive place where they continue to make the best of memories.
This year we are reaching out to you and the community to support the ever-growing needs of the Club. Our goal for this end of year campaign is to raise $100,000 to enhance specialty programs and support youth in need. Less than 50% of our members can afford the modest fees we charge, and we need to ensure our programs stay relevant, exciting and motivate more kids to participate more often.
By reaching our $100,000 goal, we will be able to ensure 500 more youth in need will have scholarship funds to attend the Club. We will also be able to support and enhance specific programs, which include: After School Learning Centers, Sports and Recreation, Teen Clubs, Arts & Crafts and daily special events. If we reach our goal, one of our corporate partners, Buffalo Wild Wings has agreed to provide a wing party in each of our Clubs for the Kids! You can track the progress on our website at www.bgcwpa.org/campaignforkids and through social media.
We need your support now more than ever. There is a growing need for the life changing programs that we provide our youth. Having personally been impacted as a youth growing up in the Club and seeing the difference our Club makes in the lives of our current members is all the motivation I need to make this important request of you.
Your generosity and support makes you a silent hero in the lives of the young people we serve. I thank you on their behalf and whole-heartedly renew my promise to give the young people throughout Allegheny County the GREAT FUTURES they deserve.
With sincere appreciation,
P.S. No gift is too big or too small when it comes to our children’s futures.
With your investment in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania, we will be able to reach even more kids in our community and put them on the path to a GREAT FUTURE!
