RBI Coordniator

Job Summary

STATUS: Part-time, Seasonal

20-34 hours per week (season-dependent)

Average 20 hours/week January, February, August

Average 30 hours/week March, April, May, June, July

SUMMARY:

This is a Boys & Girls Clubs of Western PA position that works in conjunction with Major League Baseball on the execution of the Pittsburgh RBI youth baseball and softball program. This position will develop and execute all of Pittsburgh RBI’s functions, with a focus on organization, inclusion, programming, and growth.

Responsibilities and Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the Boys & Girls Clubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates/Pirates Charities to develop a Pittsburgh RBI strategic plan that includes targeted relationship development, and outreach initiatives.

  • Develop a team application process that outlines team responsibilities and benefits.

  • Gather and analyze program data including participant demographics, contact information, and all coaches and site data.

  • Manage the current equipment inventory and coordinate the process of distribution of equipment based on the community requests and needs.

  • Act as primary liaison between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western PA, and groups/communities including: Braddock, Brighton Heights, Carnegie, Duquesne, East Hills, Hill District, Homewood, McKeesport, Mount Oliver, North View Heights, Pittsburgh CitiParks, Shadyside, Swissvale, and Wilkinsburg, with desired expansion into communities such as Carrick, Clairton, Garfield, Hazelwood, Penn Hills, and South Side

  • Provide support with the selection of education programs to be used in the communities and assist with implementation.

  • Provide support with coaches and youth baseball/softball clinics.

  • Represent the organization at Pittsburgh RBI games and community functions.

  • All other duties assigned by the Boys & Girls Clubs.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Candidates must have the ability to work in a part-time capacity from January through August.

  • Candidates must have experience working in youth programming and/or coaching.

  • Candidates must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) or equivalent, and a proven ability to navigate online social media and database software programs (e.g. LeagueApps) are musts.

  • Candidates must pass all clearances required by Boys & Girls Clubs of Western PA and Major League Baseball, including Act 33, Act 34, FBI, Direct Advantage, and Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance.

  • Ability to work nights and weekends.

  • Desired understanding of socioeconomic landscape of the city of Pittsburgh, and comfort in traveling to all parts of the city and working with any group regardless of geography and affiliation.

  • Desired Community/Volunteer Experience.
