After delivering more than 1,000 kits to members’ door steps during the COVID-19 shut-down, Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania is kicking off “Club on the Go,” to keep members and children new to Boys & Girls Clubs engaged physically, mentally and emotionally over the summer months and to inspire youth to explore healthy eating and cooking, art and creativity, physical fitness, STEM and the science behind growing vegetables and nutrition!

During these Summer months where BGCWPA Clubhouses would typically be packed full of youth members for our Summer Day Camp, it is more important than ever that BGCWPA continue to meet the needs of our youth in new ways by bringing both education and fun right to their doorsteps with weekly deliveries based on one of these themes: Growing Hope, Art for All, STEM and Summer Fun.

BGCWPA is dedicated to minimizing the learning gap created by the COVID-19 pandemic by offering youth educational support and opportunities throughout the Summer and beyond, both in-person, virtually and with delivered initiatives including Club on the Go.

The first of our weekly deliveries, focused around “Growing Hope” will be a three week initiative with your first delivery to include:

  • Tomato Plant
  • Seeds
  • Artsmith Seed Kit
  • One Potting Container
  • Bag of Soil
  • Lowes Bucket
  • Pedometer
  • Water Bottle

You can find directions here on how to properly set up and grow your tomato plant and seeds with the provided supplies. Check out our  “What’s In Your Bucket?” video here to learn what all of your supplies will be used for. Stay tuned for a step by step tutorial on planting and caring for your mini garden!

Thank you to The Grable Foundation,  Dollar Bank, and Artsmiths of Pittsburgh for supporting our Club on the Go Initiative!
