Friends, supporters, community members and Smokey Robinson fans-

Thank you for taking your evening to celebrate The Bridge to Great Futures Gala and thousands of local youth during these unprecedented times. As we all know, our work here at Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania has far from stopped, but rather it has grown, adapted and stepped up to meet both the existing and new demands of our communities. Thanks to supporters like you, during COVID-19 BGCWPA has served over 65,000 meals in addition to offering over 3,000 free food truck dinners to families with limited transportation access, and delivered thousands of cleaning, hygiene and Club on the Go kits. We’ve also provided both in person and virtual summer camps to hundreds of youth. With a commitment to safety and to the growth and development of our Clubhouse members, our staff will go into the fall season more prepared and ready than ever to meet the needs of families and their children. With 13 Clubhouse locations and 6 more to come in 2020, we are thrilled to offer new programs, reach a larger footprint, and make a bigger impact in Western Pennsylvania. We welcome both school based and stand alone sites, community partnerships and outreach programs to ensure we activate and advance the potential in every child by doing whatever it takes to ensure they have great futures. Your support this evening will directly provide access to our Clubhouses, programs and expanded hours as many schools announce they are going fully virtual. Opening several of our locations during the day will allow parents to work knowing their children are completing virtual school, eating a healthy lunch, and engaging in enriching activities with caring staff in safe locations. We estimate many of the families we serve will need scholarships to meet the cost of this new daytime programming.

Tonight we welcome you to learn more about our mission, to enjoy delicious wines, foods and incredible entertainment. We are so honored to have Boys & Girls Clubs of America Hall of Fame member and Alumnus, as well as legendary Motown singer, Smokey Robinson, here with us this evening. Thank you to our event emcee, Kristine Sorensen, to our Honorary Event Co-chairs, Nancy and Vince Morales, to our country music stars, Dillon Dixon and Max Flinn, and the tech team at PPG for donating their time. We also thank our Board of Directors and local Clubhouse advisory members, in addition to our dedicated gala committee. Without you all, this evening would not be possible. We would like to provide special recognition to our presenting sponsor, Leaving Legacies Foundation, for your continued support to make this event a great success. Additionally, we want to thank PPG, ProspHire, Texas Instruments, Gateway Health, Pitt Ohio and Trust Franklin Press for their commitment to our mission.

The Club is really about the young people we serve and we join you in recognizing a very special member of our Carnegie Clubhouse and STEM Coordinator, Nick Cindrich, who is our 2020 Youth of the Year winner. Nick embodies all BGCWPA stands for with his desire to learn, to play and to give back. Congratulations, Nick! Lastly, please congratulate our 2020 Champion of Youth winner, PPG, for their commitment to providing access and opportunities for local youth through the support and development of programs such as our Artificial Intelligence Pathways Institute and Teen Accelerator Program. I speak for all of our committed and caring staff at BGCWPA — thank you for your generosity, big hearts and big dreams as we work together to provide quality programming, safety and a second home to even more youth throughout Western Pennsylvania!

Happy Gala-Going,
