Throughout the month of August, youth enrolled in our in-person Summer Day Camps at our Carnegie, Estelle S. Campbell, and Northern Area Clubhouses had the opportunity to travel to one of Allegheny County’s parks to spend time outside, get moving and participate in the “Skin & Skulls” program.
Rangers lead youth in exploring the different native animal species of our County by looking at an extensive collection of animal skins and skulls, learning animal traits, and examining their pelts to learn more about predator/prey relationships, habitats, adaptations, and diets of the animals that call our area home.
Thank you to Allegheny County Parks for welcoming our youth to the different parks throughout the county, and providing BGCWPA with private pavilions and bathrooms to ensure that all CDC guidelines were followed throughout the duration of park trips. bgc
Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania is always exploring new ways to give our youth access to new opportunities and experiences. With dedicated community partners, BGCWPA is able to offer our youth new and innovative programs as we prepare to open our Clubhouses for full day and hybrid fall programming to accommodate a new format of learning.
