In a year of constant uncertainties and unknowns, Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania has also been a constant. For our youth, families and communities, this has been a year of challenge; however, BGCWPA has and will continue to be a critical resource and support system for local youth like Ti’yanna.

Ti’yanna has been a staff member at BGCWPA for almost a year after having met BGCWPA CEO, Dr. Lisa, in high school. While Ti’yanna was not a BGCWPA member as a child, she participated in other after school programs in her community that provided her support that she needed to get off on the right track. Now a Sophomore at Duquesne University in Accounting, Ti’yanna has been given the opportunity to gain real life experience in the office and Accounts Payable departments of BGCWPA to determine her future aspirations, build her resume and help offset the costs of school books, tuition and her first apartment! She has also worked in a few of our Clubhouses as a youth development professional.

Ti’Yanna shares “The staff at BGCWPA has become my mentors, supporting me in my studies, making sure I have an understanding of the real world, giving me people to talk to if I have any troubles and so much more. I can’t thank them enough.” Ti’yanna enjoys giving back to her community and working with youth even while attending school. Therefore, it is no shock that her favorite quote is “Push yourself, because no one else is going to do it for you.” We are so proud to have Ti’yanna on the BGCWPA team and know she will take what she has learned at Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania to make the world a better place!

This holiday season, a gift to BGCWPA means any of the following for a local  youth like Ti’yanna:
