Project Description

Regina Tvaruzek
Regina TvaruzekSTEAM Coordinator, Shadyside Clubhouse
Regina pursued her love of education, teaching and technology at Seton Hill University before working as a Lighting Designer, Electrician and Technical Coordinator in the theater world for about ten years. Before Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania, Regina served as the Dance Technical Coordinator at Point Park University, where she mentored and led students who majored in Technical Theater and Stage Management & Design.

Regina also took her first steps to earn a teaching certification, before one of her classes introduced her to STEM education, and she was hooked! Regina finally found a way to combine her love of teaching with her love of technology, and she is so happy her paths have crossed!

What do you love most about Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania?
“I love BGCWPA because the staff is so genuinely devoted to the youth that come to our Clubhouses. In addition to creating a safe place for students to hang out after school, the students quickly learn that the staff care about their interests, lives at home and at school, and we are here to help them grow and understand this -sometimes tricky- life.”

What is your favorite BGCWPA memory?
“One of my favorite memories at the Club is when a student wrote me a note that said something like, “we’ve been slight on using the art room until you created STEM and now we’re excited to get back into the art room. THANK YOU.” …It was so cute because he used the word “slight” and also claimed that I “created STEM.”
