Great Start supports teens to commit to healthy lifestyles, restore community relationships, and lead great futures by focusing on whole person development. Great Start membership at Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania is open to any youth ages 14-18 referred by Allegheny County Juvenile Probation (informal adjustment, consent decree, or adjudicated youth).
Great Start members will advance through three stages of the program:
- Great Start: community service opportunities, earn wages, mentorship, educational support, self-development
- Rise Up: Healthy Lifestyles program, financial literacy, restorative practices & conflict resolution skills, build community relations
- Finish Strong: Leadership development, summer employment opportunities, and career/education planning
