Triple Play is part of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Sports, Fitness, and Recreation core program area. Triple consists of an array of effective programs for equipping Club members with crucial skills needed to become healthy, fit, and successful adults. It is a multi-faceted program designed to help young people to become healthy and active, and learn new ways to handle stress, maintain a healthy body, and form positive relationships.
Triple Play takes a holistic approach to health and wellness in three key areas:
Mind: Helps Club members develop a knowledge base to acquire healthy habits, such as making smart food choices, understanding appropriate portion sizes and creating fun and balanced meals.
Body: Encourages young people to be physically active through fun daily fitness, including games and activities to get them moving. Daily fitness challenges give youth of every age a chance to play longer and harder at a variety of games.
Soul: Provides social recreation programs and activities that strengthen interpersonal skills, foster good character and develop positive relationships and cooperation among young people. Club youth acquire a healthy self-concept and belief in their self-worth, and cope well with positive and adverse situations.
In partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers our Clubs offer youth organized activities to ensure that each member is physically active for at least 60 minutes a day. Daily fitness challenges, organized activities, and online individual tracking encourage all youth in in the Club to get up and get healthy.
